The recent Proposition 8 vote in California and the fight for equality and civil rights for all Americans is a very important issue in our country; an issue that I personally feel strongly about. And what better way to raise awareness than through comedy?!

Activism in the LGBT community has become a passion of mine, especially in this political climate, and I came up with the idea for this show after several sleepless nights wondering how I could help.

Please join me for an evening of stand up, sketch, music and video to raise awareness and funds for EQIL, one of the most important LGBT-focused organizations in the Midwest. From their website:

The Mission of Equality Illinois is to secure, protect and defend equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Illinois.

Tickets to the show are only $10, and all proceeds are going directly to EQIL. I am not making a dime from this show; all production costs and staffing are out of pocket, and I wouldn't have it any other way. There will be other opportunities to donate on the night of the show, as well.

This will be an all LGBT show, and the lineup is going to be amazing! Here's who is on the docket so far:

Cameron Esposito
Bill Cruz
Seth Dodson (winner of Impress These Apes, season 3)
The Alliance
Ben Lerman

The show will be held at The Lincoln Lodge, and will be hosted by the amazing and talented Allison Leber, who just so happens to be the hostess with the mostest. Just this past weekend, she hosted the prop. 8 protest in downtown chicago that shut down traffic!

We will also have door prizes and loads of other fun things! Please come out and support two great causes at once - LGBT awareness/rights and local comedy!

Tickets can be purchased by clicking on the link to the left. I anticipate a sell-out crowd, so don't miss out! The room holds about 80, so they're going to go fast!

Here are the details:
What: "COME OUT FOR CHANGE! A Gay-la For Charity"
When: Wed, December 17th at 9pm
Why: To raise awareness/funds for LGBT rights
Who: Nellie and the rest of Chicago comedy!
How much: A mere $10! That's nothing! I know!!!

Please pass this along to anyone else who I may have missed. Also, please do not hesitate to email with any questions you may have.

xoxo

Nellie
